Book Review: This Is What You Just Put In Your Mouth

"If it tastes good, spit it out."  Jack Lalanne. There is a wee bit of truth to that statement!  Sometimes food tastes TOO GOOD!  Especially man made food.  If that type of food tastes good, then definitely SPIT IT OUT!  Now natural, organic, whole foods; chew, swallow and enjoy!

I was interested in this book because I am a plant based eater, and I am always telling people to eat food in their most natural state.  People think I am "crazy" making up "conspiracy theories" about the food that we are being feed, living in a "dream world where the FDA and Government are out to kill us."  Not in the least bit, but I am very concerned about what is allowed in our food products that we purchase.  We, as a society, are too trusting on what we feed to our families and friends.  We trust that what ever is going into that food product is safe for us to eat and will not harm us in any way.  We are wrong.  Patrick Di Justo, proves this in his book This Is What You Just Put In Your Mouth.  The book has everything from table condiments, cigarettes to flu shots.

Here is one example from Patrick's book:

Power bars, they are healthy!  They are sold as a protein source, meal replacements and good for you!  Well, you might be deceived a little bit.  Ingredients are:

Whey protein isolate-proteins left over from cheese making
Calcium caseinate-milk derived proteins
Soy protein isolate-protein from soy
ChocolateY coating- chocolate not made with cocoa butter, but with LARD or any other fat.
High fructose corn syrup-I need not to explain
Glycerin-sugar alcohol
Maltitol Syrup-carbon sugar alcohol
Oat fiber-fiber from oats
Calcium phosphate-performance enhancer, on a side note it is also used to polish teeth and build hard tissue prosthetics, Yummmm
Copper gluconate-zero effects from adding to your diet
Pantothenic acid-Vitamin B5
and Vitamin B6

Patrick has done his research, talked to experts and wrote this book with integrity.

If you are brave enough, go get this book and find out what you are putting in your mouth!
