Chemical Free Deodorant! Your Armpits Will Thank You!

I am a sweater (not the wool or cotton type, but the stinky sweat, leave marks on shirts) sweater.  Bad.  This is going to get a bit personal and graphic.  I am just being "real" with you guys.

I do not have to be doing anything and my pits sweat.  I pit out shirts all the time.  There, I said it.  I am a shirt pitter outer...

My husband has been telling me for a long time that antiperspirant was bad for me.   Yeah, yeah, yeah...but what else am I supposed to use to stop my pits from sweating so much?  The reason why I purchase antiperspirant is because they work the best at helping me not pit out my shirts and to help with the smell factor.  The reason why antiperspirants work, is because there is aluminum in there.  That ingredient reacts with your sweat, creating a "plug" in your sweat  gland duct to stop you from sweating and stinking.

Your body was created to sweat and cleanse itself by sweating.  The more I learn about the human body, the more I want to keep it healthy for a long time.  One way to keep my body healthy is to keep chemicals and harmful materials out of it and off it!

Very simple ingredients!  Most are available at your grocery or retail store.  I did have to go to  our local health food store to get the UNREFINED coconut oil.
4 tablespoons of coconut oil, makes around 1/4 cup of melted oil, give or take.
This is what the oil looks like after you have nuked it in the microwave for a few seconds.

Baking soda.

Corn starch.

Mix the two dry ingredients together.

Essential oil.  I used lemon.  I like the clean smell of lemons.

Add to the coconut oil.

Mix with the dry ingredients.

Forms a nice paste.
Add to a jar and it is ready to use.  Some of the websites I read said that you can pour it into an old deodorant tube.  I did not have one, so I opted for the jar.

In the morning when I go to use it, I do have to throw it in the microwave for 5 to 7 seconds to get soft.  I only use a little dab!  One per pit!  Rub on well!  I have let my armpits dry before putting on my clothes, to make sure that the oil does not get on my shirts.  So far so good.

So the next question is, does it work?  Yes, so far I have had great success!  I have walked/jogged with it, no smell, I have worn it to work, no smell or pitting out!  Tomorrow I have CrossFit, and I am very comfortable that it will hold up for me!

So what makes this stuff work?

The baking soda absorbs the odor, the cornstarch absorbs the wetness, coconut oil is an antioxidant and a moisturizer and has antifungal and anti bacterial properties (who knew!) and the essential oil, depends on what you use.  Lemon is known for cleaning the skin, and a purifier!

Let me know if you give this a try and how it works for you!

A natural armpit is a happy armpit!!!

Au revoir~
